said child as a slave for life; And whereas, in
executing said bill of sale, the same was signed
alone by the said James Deale, and was not ac-
knowledged before a justice of the peace, or re-
corded as required by law; Therefore,
|
|
|
Made valid.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the bill of sale from the
said James Deale, to the said Franklin Waters,
bearing date the sixteenth day of May, eighteen
hundred and forty-two, purporting to convey the
said negro woman Hester, for a term of years, and
her infant child Hester, as a slave for life, be and
the same is hereby made as good and valid in law,
for the purpose of conveying said negroes, as if
the said parties had signed and acknowledged the
said bill of sale, before a justice of the peace of
this State, and the same had been recorded within
the time limited by law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the time of its passage.

AN ACT to amend the act to incorporate the
Elkton, Andora and Louisville Plank Road
Company, passed at the January session, eigh-
teen hundred and fifty-three, chapter three
hundred and twenty-two.
|
|
|
Authorised to
occupy road
now located.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Elkton, Andora and
Louisville Plank Road Company, are hereby in-
vested with the right to have, use and occupy, the
road as now located by the said Company, for the
uses and purposes set forth in the original charter,
to which this act is an amendment, as also in this
act.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
pany, shall have full power and authority to con-
struct an additional track to the one now in use
|
|
