AN ACT for the increase of the capital stock of
the Powhattan Steamboat Company of Balti-
more city.
|

may be aug-
mented.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That from and after the passage
of this act, the capital stock of the Powhattan
Steamboat Company of Baltimore city, may be
augmented to a sum not exceeding two hundred
thousand dollars; the present capital being one
hundred thousand dollars, as provided in the sec-
ond section of the chapter of said corporation,
passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
forty, pursuant to the provisions made in section
second of the said charter.

SEC. 2. And lie it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

AN ACT for the relief of the sureties of Edward
S. L. Young, former State Tax Collector, for
Caroline county.

Released from
the payment of
interest.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the sureties on the of-
ficial bond of Edward S. L. Young, State tax
collector, for Caroline county, for the year eigh-
teen hundred and forty-six, be and they are here-
by released from the payment of interest on the
tax levied for the use of the State, by the commis-

sioners of said county, for the said year; Provi-
ded, that the amount due for principal from said
collector, together with all cost and charges that
shall or may have accrued by reason of any suits
thereon, shall be paid on or before the first day of
May in the present year, upon the adjustment of
said claims by the Comptroller; Provided, that
the said sureties shall not be released from the
