CHAPTER 156.

AN ACT to allow Hezekiah E. Willet, late col-
lector of taxes, in the third election district of
Charles county, further time to complete his
collections.

Passed Febru-
ary 17, 1858.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That from and after the passage
of this act, Hezekiah E. Willet, late collector in
the third election district of Charles county, by
himself or any person or persons by him ap-
pointed for this purpose, be and he is hereby au-
thorised and empowered to collect, until the first
day of January, eighteen hundred and fifty-nine,
all sums and balances due him, an collector of
said third election district in said county, in the
name manner which the said Hezekiah E. Willet,
could or might have done within the time now

limited by law; Provided, that nothing in this
act shall be construed, to prevent the Comptroller
from enforcing payment of any sums that may be
due the State by said collector.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be
the duty of the said Hezekiah E. Willet, before
he proceeds to execute the property of any person
or persons, for taxes in virtue of this act, to de-
liver to such person or persons chargeable with
the same, at least thirty days previous to the lay-
ing of such execution, a fair account( in writing,
of the taxes demanded of him, her or them, and
an affidavit thereto annexed, that he hath not di-
rectly or indirectly received any part thereof, or
any thing in security or satisfaction for the same,
more than the credits given, to the best of his
knowledge.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts incon-
sistent with this act, bo and the same are hereby
repealed.
