CHAPTER 147.

1, 1858.

AN ACT amendatory of an act entitled an act
to incorporate the Proprietors of the Rose Bank
Cemetery, passed at February session, eighteen
hundred and forty-seven, chapter two hundred
and ninety-three.

Affairs of cor-
poration — how
conducted.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the affairs of said corpo-
ration shall he conducted by seven managers, any
five of whom shall constitute a quorum, who shall
be elected annually by a majority of the votes of
the members of the corporation, who may be pre-
sent at such election, and who shall themselves be
members of the same, they shall elect from
amongst, their number a President to serve until
the next election of managers.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the managers
of said corporation are authorised at any time they
deem it necessary to enlarge the said Cemetery,
to purchase or receive a donation of land not ex-
ceeding ten acres, which together with that now
in their possession, so long as used as a Cemetery,
shall not be liable to any tax or public imposition
whatever.

veyance to be
executed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be
the duty of the managers upon the payment of
the purchase money for any one or more of the
burial lots in said Cemetery, to cause to be execu-
ted to the purchaser or purchasers thereof, a deed
of conveyance of the same, which shall be signed
by the President, and sealed with the seal of the
corporation, attested by the Secretary, which shall
be a good and sufficient title for the same without
being acknowledged or recorded as other deeds
are.

juring or defa-
cing property.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That any person
who shall wilfully destroy, mutilate, deface, in-
jure or remove any tomb, monument, grave stone
or other structure, placed in the Cemetery afore-
said, or any fence, railing or other work for the
protection or ornament of any tomb, monu-
ment, grave stone or other structure afore-
said, or shall wilfully destroy, cut, break or
remove any tree, shrub or plant within the
