and directed to pay to William W. Johnson, of
Somerset county, the sum of one hundred and
thirty-eight dollars and nineteen cents, the same
being an amount of so much money erroneously
paid by him into the Treasury of the State.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Joshua Brown, of Anne
Arundel county, he and he is hereby authorised,
entitled and empowered, to have, hold, own and
keep, in the State of Maryland, a certain negro
man, named Tom Boteler, as his slave for life,
sold under the act of eighteen hundred and forty-
nine, chapter one hundred and twenty-four, entit-
tled "a supplement to an act respecting the pun-
ishment of slaves," and purchased by the said
Joshua Brown, as a slave for life, as aforesaid.
