CHAPTER 126.

AN ACT providing for the erection of an ad-
ditional school house in the Eighth Election
District of Prince George's county.

Passed March
4, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That William Hall, M. J. Stone
and John B. Adams, of Prince George's county,
he, and they are hereby appointed commissioners,
and they, or a majority of them, are hereby au-
thorised and empowered to contract for, and
superintend the erection and construction of an
additional school house, in School District No. 1,
or the Woodville School District, in the Eighth

Commission-
ers appointed.

Election District of Prince George's county; Pro-
vided the cost thereof shall not exceed the sum of
three hundred dollars; and for that purpose the
said commissioners are hereby authorised to con-
demn any land in said school district, on which to
erect said school house for public use, and to value
the same, which said valuation, together with the
cost for erecting said house, shall be paid in the
manner provided for in the act passed at Decem-
ber session, eighteen hundred and thirty-eight,
chapter 61.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That as soon as said
school house is erected and completed, a teacher
shall be employed therefor, in the same manner
that teachers of other free schools are now em-
ployed, and shall be paid in the same manner as
other teachers of free schools in Prince George's
county are now paid.

SEC...3. And be it enacted,, That said school
house hereinbefore mentioned, shall be deemed a
free school, and it is hereby placed on the same
footing, entitled to the same privileges, and sub-
ject to the same regulations that other free schools
in said county are subject and entitled to.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the surveyor of
the county is hereby directed to give his services,
if required, to survey and lay out the lot of ground
which may be deemed necessary for the erection
of the aforesaid school house, and the county com-
missioners of said county are hereby authorised to
allow said surveyor such compensation for his ser-
vices as they may deem adequate.
