LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 12.

Passed Febru-
ary 11, 1858.

AN ACT requiring the Surveyor of Allegany
county to have an accurate copy made of the
Record Books in said Surveyor's office in which
are recorded the certificates of survey made by
Benjamin G. Vaughn, a former Surveyor of
said county, and to provide the rates of com-
pensation for his work.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Surveyor of Allegany
county is hereby authorized and required to pro-
cure a new bound blank book of proper size, and
adapted to the purposes of this act, into which he
shall accurately copy all the recorded matter con-
tained in the Record Books in said Surveyor's of-
fice, in which are recorded the certificates of Sur-
vey made by Benjamin G. Vaughn, a former Sur-
veyor of said county, and which is usually called
"Vaughn's Book," and that after a full transcript
thereof shall have been made as required by this
act, the said new book shall have all the effect of
the original as a book of evidence, and shall be
kept, used and considered in all respects as the
original.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the
county commissioners for Allegany county, shall
at the first meeting to be held by them for the pur-
pose of levying the county charges, after the com-
pletion of said transcript, include in their list of
county charges, and levy a sum for the use of said
Surveyor sufficient to pay for said new book, and
to compensate him at the rate of ten cents for
every hundred words copied by him, and fifteen
cents for every plat copied by him of one hundred
acres or less, and for every plat copied by him of
more than one hundred acres, the further sum of
five cents for every additional hundred acres, and
for every additional fraction of a hundred acres.

In force.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That this
act shall take effect from and after its passage.
