by law; Provided, nothing in this act contained,
shall in any manner affect the rights of bona fide
purchasers or creditors without notice, who may
have become so before the passage of this act.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 109.

In force.

AN ACT relating to Coupons paid and returned
to the Treasurer, and certificates of stock pur-
chased for the augmentation of the Sinking
Fund, and to repeal resolution No. 8, of De-
cember session, eighteen hundred and forty.

Passed Febru-
ary 20, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Comptroller, together
with the Treasurer of the State, is hereby author-
ised and directed to examine, record and burn all
such State coupons as shall be paid and returned
to the Treasury by the agents employed to pay
the interest on the public debt, and to make re-
port of their proceedings therein, to the Legisla-
ture at each session thereof.

SEC. 2. And be, it enacted, That the committee
on Finance of the Senate, and the committee on
Ways and Means of the House of Delegates, shall
hereafter, during each session of the Legislature,
examine, count, and burn all bonds and certifi-
cates for stocks of the State, purchased or obtained
by the Treasurer, during the recess of the Legis-
lature up to the close of the fiscal year next pre-
ceding the session, for the use of the Sinking
Fund, and shall make report of their proceedings
therein, to the Legislature, at the same session in
which they shall perform the duties herein im-
posed upon them.
