government of the said poor-house and farm in
said county, as to them shall from time to time
appear most proper and requisite; all which shall
be conformed to and observed by said overseer, and
all under his control, or the control of said trus-

tees, under the penalties therein contained: Pro-
vided, always that the said rules, by-laws and or-
ders, be in no way contrary to the laws of this
State.

Proviso.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said trus-
tees shall dispose of all products arising from the
cultivation of said land, over and above what may
he necessary for the maintenance of the poor of
the said poor house, and the amount of money
arising from such sale or sales, after paying all the
expenses of the said poor-house and farm, shall
annually, on the first Tuesday of June, in each
and every year, he returned on oath and paid over
to the County Commissioners of Somerset county,
to be applied for the benefit of said county, and in
case the products of said farm shall be insufficient
for the maintenance of the poor in said poor-house,
the said County Commissioners of the said coun-
ty, shall annually levy, as now provided by law
for the use of the said trustees, such sum as in ad-
dition to said products shall be necessary.

Duty of Com-
missioners.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That when the said
commissioners appointed by this act, shall have
delivered the said farm and buildings to the said
trustees, and the said paupers shall have been re-
moved to said farm as aforesaid, it shall be the
duty of the said commissioners, or a majority of
them, to sell and dispose of by public auction, the
present poor-house of said county, and all the land
with its appurtenances thereto attached, on such
terms as they may deem best for the interest of
the county, after first giving at least three weeks
notice by advertisement, in such newspaper or
newspapers as may be printed in Somerset county
aforesaid, of the time, place, manner and terms of
sale, and on the payment of the purchase money,
they or a majority of them, shall convey the same
in fee simple, to the purchaser or purchasers there-
of, by a good and sufficient deed of bargain and
sale, and the proceeds of said sale, shall be applied
towards the payment of the land and improve-
ments authorised by the first section of this act :
