provisions of this act.

issue warrants.

Proviso.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the Comptrol-
ler of the Treasury be, and he is hereby directed
to issue his warrant or warrants upon the orders
and certificates of the said committee, directed to
the Treasurer, for the payment of the sum in said
orders and certificates specified; Provided, that
the whole amount of all the moneys so to be paid
shall not exceed the said sum of fifty thousand

dollars as above set forth.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That thin act shall
be of force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 106.

ary 26, 1858.

AN ACT entitled, an act for the better regula-
tion of Primary Schools in Howard county.

Commission-
ers authorised
to levy.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That in addition to the moneys
now annually levied for the use of Primary Schools
in Howard county; the County Commissioners of
said county, shall be and are hereby empowered,
authorised and directed, to levy the additional
sum of one hundred dollars, annually, for the use
of each of the Primary School Districts of said
county, excepting only the seventh district, for
which district the additional sum of two hundred
dollars, shall be annually levied by said Com-

missioners.

tors.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the County Com-
missioners aforesaid, on the first Tuesday in March
next, or at their next meeting thereafter, annually,
shall appoint and commission three learned per-
sons, who shall be styled Primary School Inspec-
tors, and shall hold their office for one year from
the date of their appointment, or until their suc-
cessors are appointed and qualified; said inspec-
tors shall be eligible for re-appointment; they
