CHAPTER 92 .
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to prevent the selling or pedling of Car-
riages, Hacks, Gigs and Buggy Wagons, in
Worcester, Dorchester, Carroll and Cecil coun-
ties, not manufactured in the State of Mary-
land.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That from and after the first
day of May, eighteen hundred and fifty-eight, it
shall not be lawful for any person or persons to
bring into Worcester, Dorchester, Carroll and
Cecil counties, any carriages, hacks, gigs or
buggy wagons, of any description, not manufac-
tured in this State, to be sold on commission or
otherwise, without first obtaining a license for that
purpose.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Clerk of the
Circuit Courts for Worcester, Dorchester, Carroll
and Cecil counties, upon application for license
for the purpose mentioned in the first section of
this act, shall issue .such license upon the pay-
ment of forty dollars; and such license shall be
renewed annually.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That any person duly
convicted of violating any of the provisions of this
act, shall be subject to a fine of not less than twen-
ty nor more than fifty dollars for each and every
such offence, recoverable as small debts out of
Court are recovered; and one half of said fine
shall be appropriated to the use of the State, the
other half for the use of the informer, who is here-
by made a competent witness.
