authority of this act; and it shall be the duty of
the collectors in the several districts of said county,
to bring before said Commissioners at their next
meeting, or as soon thereafter as practicable, the
said assessment lists, for the purpose of being ex-
amined and copied.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the said County
Commissioners, shall meet in the town of Bel-air,
on as early a day as practicable after the passage
of this act, and proceed at once to transcribe and
copy from the assessment lists, for the year eigh-
teen hundred and fifty-seven, now in the hands of
the collectors, into suitable books, the names of
the several tax payers, and the amounts assessed
to each, and make their levy thereon, after mak-
ing within the time now limited by law, such
abatements and transfers and additions thereto,

as they may be satisfied are just and proper; Pro-
vided, that if any person shall make complaint of
the amount with which they are so assessed, and
apply for an abatement, the said Commissioners
shall have full power and authority to examine
any person or persons, and the party complaining
or applying for abatement, on oath or affirmation
touching the particulars, and value of such prop-
erty, and of all the taxable property owned by
such person, and make the abatements or addi-
tions accordingly.

Proviso.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 91.

In force.

AN ACT to provide for building a Court House
in Harford County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Stevenson Archer, Henry
S. Harlan, A. Lingan Jarrett, James McCormick,
and William H. Dallam, of Harford county, be
