wise, and for keeping and boarding any runaway
negro, or negro slave committed to the Jail of said
county, by any citizen of this State, the sum of forty
cents per day, in lieu of the sum now allowed, to be
levied and collected according to law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

A SUPPLEMENT to an act entitled an act relating
to that portion of the Franklin Railroad that lies
within the State of Maryland, and providing for
its sale, to pay the debts of the Franklin Railroad
Company, and for the immediate re-laying and re-
newal of said road, passed at January session,
eighteen hundred and fifty-three, chapter one hun-
dred and thirty-five.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, It satisfactorily appears to this General
Assembly, That in pursuance of the act to which
this is a supplement, that portion of the Franklin
Rail Road lying within the State of Maryland,
hath been twice sold by the trustees named in
said act, and by their successors appointed as
therein provided; and that the second sale thereof
was expressly made subject to all the conditions
and provisos contained in the fifth section of said
act, and was so reported to and ratified by the
Circuit Court for Washington county, and that al-
though more than sixty days have elapsed since
the ratification of the last of said sales, the purcha-
ser has not commenced to relay or repair said
road; And whereas, it also appears that two of the
original trustees named in said act, have, since
the passage thereof, removed from Washington
county, and it is right and proper that the object
and purpose of said act should be carried into ef-
fect, by the appointment of commissioners with
authority to re-sell said road as often
