CHAPTER 68.

AN additional supplement to an act parsed at Decem-
ber session eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, en-
titled, an act to provide for the establishment of
district schools in Charles county.

Passed Mar.
6, 1866.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Orphans' Court of Charles
county be and hereby is authorised and required to
audit and adjust the claims of primary school teach-
ers for the year eighteen hundred and fifty-four, and
ascertain the balance due each of the said teachers for
the said year according to the provisions of the sev-
eral acts on this subject, and deliver to each teacher a
certificate of the amount due him.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of the tax for Charles county, upon their next meet-
ing thereafter to make a levy, shall levy such sum or
sums as may be necessary to pay the amount, which
may be found due to the teachers aforesaid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 69.

In force.

AN ACT to increase the allowance to the Sheriffs of
Talbot county for keeping and boarding in the
Jail of said county, such prisoners as may be com-
mitted for breaches of the peace, or for any crim-
inal offences or otherwise, and for keeping and
boarding any runaway negro, or negro slave com-
mitted to the Jail of said county, by any citizen
of this State.

6, 1856.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Sheriff of Talbot county
shall be allowed for keeping and boarding all prison-
ers committed to the Jail of said county for breaches
of the peace, or for any criminal offences or other-
