CHAPTER 66.

Passed Mar.
6, 1856.

AN ACT to compensate James S. Franklin for the
trial of certain cases in the Court of Appeals, as
counsel on the part of the State, by appointment of
the Governor.

Treasurer to
pay.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Treasurer be, and he is
hereby authorized and required to pay to James S.
Franklin, upon the warrant of the Comptroller, the
sum of two hundred dollars, the same being com-
pensation for the trial of the cases of John Cochrane
vs. the State of Maryland, and Emanuel Raab vs. the
State of Maryland, in the Court of Appeals, as coun-
sel for the State, by appointment of the Governor.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 67.

AN ACT to amend the charter of the Maryland In-
stitution for the instruction of the Blind, passed at
January session 1853.

To increase
board of direc-
tors.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Maryland Institution for
the instruction of the Blind, is hereby authorized to
increase its Board of Directors to a number not ex-
ceeding eighteen persons.

Power to elect
additional
members.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the present Board
of Directors shall have the power of electing addi-
tional members of the Board to serve until the next
general election.

Invested.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the Board of Di-
rectors be invested with the same powers and elected
in the same manner as originally provided for in the
charter.

In force.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
