LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Treasurer to
pay.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Treasurer, upon the war-
rant of the Comptroller, is hereby authorised and di-
rected to pay out of any unappropriated money in the
Treasury to Richard B. Carmichael, Grafton L. Du-
laney, and D. C. H. Emory, each, the sum of three
hundred dollars.

To take effect.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 314.

Passed Mar.
10, 1856.

AN ACT for the preservation, security, and keeping
in order the public buildings, and the custody of
the Fire apparatus belonging to the State, and
appropriating a sum of money therefor.

To have gene-
ral superinten-
dence.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the passage of this
act that Llewellyn Boyle, of Anne Arundel county,
the appointee of this Legislature as State Librarian,
his successor when legally appointed and quali-
fied, be charged with the general superintendance of
the public buildings and grounds within the State
House circle, as well as the fire apparatus belonging
to the State, and that in execution of such general
superintendance, he is hereby authorised to employ
some competent person, who shall be required under
his immediate control and direction, to keep in per-
fect order the said buildings and grounds, and whose
compensation shall not exceed the sum of thirty dol-
lars per month.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That immediately af-
ter the adjournment of the Legislature, it shall be
the duty of the person so employed, under his di-
rection and superintendence, to clean and put in com-
plete order the Hall or entrance to the State House,
the Senate Chamber, and Hall of the House of Dele-
gates, the committee rooms, keep them thoroughly
cleaned and ventilated, and before each session, ar-
