CHAPTER 265.

AN ACT to provide for the payment of legal fees
due to Jervis Spencer, for services rendered the
State.

Passed Mar,

10, 1856.

WHEREAS, Jervis Spencer, by the direction of the
Governor of this State, was appointed to investi-
gate how far property held in the city of Baltimore
heretofore not paying taxes legally liable to taxa-
tion, and for the purposes of collecting whatever
taxes were due upon said property; And whereas,
it is right and proper that the said Spencer should
be remunerated for the services thus rendered,
Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That »he sum of two hundred dollars
be and the same is hereby appropriated to the pay-
ment of the claim of Jervis Spencer, for services
rendered by him as attorney for the State in Balti-
more city, and the Comptroller is hereby directed and
empowered to draw his warrant on the Treasurer for
said amount.

Sum appro-
priated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 266.

In force.

AN ACT to refund to Amon Green, of Baltimore
city, certain taxes paid in error to B. F. Zimmer-
man, Auditor.

10, 1856.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer, upon the warrant
of the Comptroller, is hereby authorised and required
to pay to Amon Green, of Baltimore city, the sum of
two dollars and forty-six cents for certain taxes paid
in error.

Treasurer to

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.
