complish the objects contemplated by said acts ;
and whereas, such correspondence was according-
ly opened, and the purposes of said acts so far
complied with, that two commissioners were ap-
pointed, one by the Governor of this State, and
the other by the Governor of Virginia, to run and
mark the aforesaid boundary lines in part; but that
in consequence of the omission of the Legislature
at its session aforesaid, or since to make provision
for the payment of the necessary expenses of the
commission, all further proceedings were suspend-

in the execution of said commission, as it is not
only necessary for the preservation of friendly
relations between adjoining states, that their
boundary lines in all their parts should be ascer-

because the rights of citizens of the respective
states, who reside or own property along the un-

acts aforesaid, in making the surveys, and doing such
other things necessary to ascertain and distinctly
mark and bound the dividing lines between the states
of Maryland and Virginia, in the manner authorised
by the aforesaid act; and that the said sum shall be
subject to the order of the Governor of this State,
so much thereof as may be necessary to be applied
by him, at his discretion, in defraying the expenses
incident to the execution of the work aforesaid, re-
quired to be done under said acts, or to such part or
parts thereof, as can be completed with the concur-
rent authority of the State of Virginia; and that it
shall be the duty of the Comptroller to grant to the
Governor, or to his order, a warrant or warrants for
said sum of money, upon the Treasurer, who shall
pay the same accordingly.
