offence shall forfeit to the said company, recovera-
ble before a Justice of the Peace for this State, as
other small debts are collected, the sum of twenty
dollars, in addition to the damages resulting from
his wrongful act.

Penalty for
avoiding pay-
ment of toll.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That every person,
who, to avoid the payment of the legal toll, shall,
with his or her team, carriage or horse, turn out
of said road, or pass any gate thereon, on ground
adjacent thereto, and again enter on said road, or
wilfully misrepresent the distance he or she has or
intends to travel on said road, shall for each offence
forfeit the sum of five dollars to the said company,
recoverable as is provided in the second section of
this act.

Sarah Lowry Wilson and Elizabeth Wilson, of
Carroll county, to Oliver Jackson Welsh, Phile-
mon Henry Welsh, Martha Welsh, Sarah Lowry
Welsh, and Elizabeth Welsh, respectively.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the names of Oliver Jackson Wil-
son, Philemon Henry Wilson, Martha Wilson, Sarah
Lowry Wilson and Elizabeth Wilson, of Carroll
county, be and the same are hereby changed to Oli-
ver Jackson Welsh, Philemon Henry Welsh, Martha
Welsh, Sarah Lowry Welsh, and Elizabeth Welsh,
respectively; and it shall be lawful for the said Oli-
ver Jackson Wilson, Philemon Henry Wilson, Mar-
tha Wilson, Sarah Lowry Wilson, and Elizabeth
Wilson, respectively, at all times hereafter to be
called and known by, and hold, and use, the names
of Oliver Jackson Welsh, Philemon Henry Welsh,
Martha Welsh, Sarah Lowry Welsh, and Elizabeth
Welsh, respectively, and by those names to have the
right to purchase, sell, convey, devise, and receive
