property hereafter devised, and to sue and be sued in
any court of law or equity.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 218.

In force.

AN ACT to incorporate certain persons as trustees of

the Methodist Episcopal Church in Princess Anne,
in Somerset county, to be called the Antioch Church,
and to vest the property of said church in said
trustees.

10, 1856.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That John V. Pinto, James Brit-
tingham, Josiah S. Crockett, Alfred Whitney, Wil-
liam H. Fisher, William Himman, George C. Dixon,
William Lecates and Seth D. Venables, together with
the minister for the time being, or the senior minister
when there are more than one stationed for said
church and their successors in office appointed and
perpetuated as hereinafter provided, shall be and they
and their successors are hereby declared to be a cor-
poration and body politic, to manage the estate, prop-
erty, interest and inheritance of the Methodist Epis-
copal Church in Princess Anne, in Somerset county,
and to have, hold, receive, acquire, and enjoy and
retain all the property of every description whether
real, personal or mixed, now properly belonging to
the said church whether in law or equity, for the use
and benefit of said church, according to the rules and
discipline of the said church, and furthermore, as
often as the necessity of the church or the public
good may require, the aforesaid trustees may purchase
or acquire by gift or otherwise any additional lots or
pieces of land or other property for the use and benefit
of the said church, provided he whole amount of any
such additional lots or pieces of land shall not exceed
five acres.
