from the payment to the State of Maryland of the
sum of one thousand pounds, Maryland currency,
equal to two thousand six hundred and sixty six dol-
lars and sixty six and two thirds cents, heretofore bor-
rowed of the said State, by the President and Trus-
tees.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the day of its final passage.

AN ACT to authorise the commissioners of Anne
Arundel and Prince George's counties to levy a
sum of money to repair or build the bridge
known as Priest's Bridge, over the Patuxent river.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the county commissioners of
Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties, respec-
tively, are hereby authorised and required, each, to
assess and levy a sum of money, not exceeding four
hundred dollars, on the assessable property, in their
respective counties, at the time of laying their next
county or annual levy, together with the commission
for collecting the same; which said sums shall be
made, levied, and collected, and paid to a majority
of the commissioners appointed by this act, or to
their order, as soon as the same shall become paya-
ble and collectable by law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the following per-
sons are appointed commissioners for rebuilding said
bridge, known as Priest Bridge, to wit: on the part
of Anne Arundel county, Basil D. Hall and George
F. White, and on the part of Prince George's coun-
ty, Doct'r James McE. Mullikin and Richard L.
Ogle; and the said commissioners, or a majority of
them, before proceeding to act, shall take testimony
to ascertain whether a new bridge is required, or
•whether the one now in use can be advanta-
geously repaired; and as they may thereupon de-
termine, they are hereby authorised and empower-
