tue of any power or authority now or heretofore in-
vested in said trustees of primary schools in and for
said election districts, after the levy and collection of
such amount as may be necessary to fulfil and comply
with contracts made and entered into by said trustees
for the proper consent and management of schools in
said election districts, during the current year eigh-
teen hundred and fifty six.

Orphans' Court
empowered.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Orphans'
Court of Caroline county be authorized and required
under and by virtue of powers vested in them by sec-
tions nine and eleven of the said act entitled, an act
to establish primary schools in election districts num-
bers three and four of Caroline county, which said
districts are hereby exempted from the operations of
said law, and all the provisions thereof, from and after
the first day of January, eighteen hundred and fifty
seven, to cause a new arrangement of the laws of the
school districts of the other parts of the county to be
made so as to adapt said school districts to the con-
venience of the inhabitants of all those parts of the
county aforesaid, not exempted from the operations of
the county school system by this act, and so as not to
include within the limits of any of said remaining
school districts, any portion of election districts num-
bers three and four of said county.

To take effect.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect, and be in force from and after the date of its
final passage by the Legislature.

CHAPTER 171.

AN ACT to authorise the County Commissioners for
Dorchester county to levy a sum of money to pay
for the building a bridge across Slaughter Creek
from the main land to Taylor's Island.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the County Commissioners
for Dorchester county be and they are authorised to
levy the sum of nine hundred and seventy-seven dol-
