school books for indigent pupils, to pay necessary ex-
penses for advertisement, to pay an annual salary to
the Treasurer and Register above mentioned and all
necessary incidental expenses incurred by the said
Board of School Commissioners in the performance
of their duties, except personal expenses of the com-

missioners; Provided, the whole additional amount
authorised above does not exceed in any one year six
hundred dollars.

Proviso.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act take
effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 170.

In force.

AN ACT to alter, amend and repeal parts of the act
entitled, an act to establish primary schools in elec-
tion districts, numbers three and four, in Caroline
county.

8, 1856.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That all those parts of an Act of As-
sembly entitled, an act to establish primary schools in
election districts, numbers three and four, in Caroline
county, passed at a session of the General Assembly
begun and held in the city of Annapolis, on the first
Wednesday of January, in the year eighteen hundred
and fifty-four, and each and every clause, section and
premises thereof which authorises the election of
trustees of primary schools, on the assessment and
collection of a tax or taxes by trustees of pri-
mary schools, in election district numbers three and
four of Caroline county aforesaid, be and the same is
hereby repealed from and after the first flay of January
eighteen hundred and fifty seven, and that from and
after the first day of January, eighteen hundred and
fifty seven, the office, functions and duties of trus-
tees of primary schools, in mid for said election dis-
tricts, numbers three and four, shall cease and deter-
mine, and no further or other tax or taxes shall be
levied or collected in the said election districts upon
the property of the inhabitants of said districts by vir-
