shall be appointed, three Judges of Election, for the
polls by this act directed to be opened to receive,
count and return the ballots, as is now provided for
by law.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 169.

AN ACT to amend an act entitled, an act to amend
and modify the primary school system of Charles
County.

A Treasurer

and Register to
be appointed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Board of School Commis-
sioners tor Charles county be and they are hereby
authorised annually to appoint a Treasurer and a Re-
gister.

Duty of Trea-
surer.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the duties of the
said Treasurer shall be, to receive and disburse all
sums of money receivable and applicable to the pri-
mary schools of Charles county, under the direction
of the said Board of Commissioners.

Duty of Reg-
ister.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the duties of the
said Register shall be, to register in a book kept for
that purpose, all such matters as the said Board of
School Commissioners may direct.

Money to bo
paid Commis-
sioners.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the Treasurer of
the State of Maryland and the Collector or Collectors
of Charles county, shall hereafter pay or cause to be
paid to the written order or orders of the Board of
School Commissioners for Charles county, or a ma-
jority of them, all moneys hereafter applicable to the
primary schools of Charles county.

Cause to be
levied.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the Board of
School Commissioners for Charles county shall have
full power and authority to cause to be levied in the
manner prescribed by the act to which this is a sup-
plement, in addition to the levy authorised by the said
act, a sufficient amount annually to repair the prima-
ry school houses in said county, to furnish necessary
