SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 132.

In force.

AN ACT to provide for the appointment of a Keep-
er of the Records of the Court of Chancery.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That a Keeper of the Records of
the Court of Chancery shall be appointed by the two
Houses of the Legislature, on joint-ballot, during its
present session, and at every succeeding session there-
of, until the said office shall be abolished, who shall
hold his office for two years from the eleventh day
of March next succeeding his election, and until his
successor shall be elected and qualified; and as such
officer, he shall take and subscribe the oath prescri-
bed in the Constitution, before the Governor, and
shall perform the several duties, and be entitled to
the same compensation as are now prescribed for said
officer by an act of assembly passed at January ses-
sion, eighteen hundred and fifty-four, chapter one
hundred and forty-nine, entitled "an act to provide
for the appointment of a Keeper of the Records of
the Court of Chancery."

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if a vacancy shall
occur in said office during the recess of the Legisla-
ture, the Governor shall till such vacancy by appoint-
ment.

SBC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said Keep-
er of the Records of the Chancery Court shall report
to the Legislature, at each session thereof, a full and
correct account of all the duties performed by him
in accordance with the provisions of the said act of
assembly, passed at January session, eighteen hun-
dred and fifty-four, chapter one hundred and forty-
nine, together with all fees and compensation he
may receive, and an accurate list of all cases still re-
maining in his possession and not transmitted to the
several counties and the city of Baltimore.
