CHAPTER 100.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to increase the allowance to the Sheriff of
Prince George's county for keeping and support-
ing persons committed to the Jail of said county
for breaches of the peace or for any criminal of-
fence.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Sheriff of Prince George's
county shall be allowed for keeping and supporting
all persons committed to the Jail of said county for
breaches of the peace or for any criminal offence the
sum of forty cents per day, for each and every day
the prisoners may be in his custody, in lieu of the
sum now allowed by law. the said sum to be levied
and collected according to the existing laws.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.
CHAPTER 101.
|

|

AN ACT to amend the act entitled, an act to incor-
porate the Frederick and Emmittsburgh Turnpike
Company, passed at December session eighteen
hundred and forty-four, chapter one hundred and
thirty-six, and to authorise said Company to charge
toll upon the whole length of their road now finish-
ed and to repeal the sixth section of said act.

WHEREAS it is represented to this General Assembly
by the President and Directors of said Turnpike
Road Company that said Company is still largely
indebted for the construction of said road so far
as the same has been constructed, and that the
amount of tolls received on the same is insufficient
to pay the debt still clue by said Company for said
construction and to keep the said road in good and
proper repair, and it is further represented that
