CHAPTER 70               

(House Bill 204)

AN ACT to add four new sections to the Anne Arundel County Code
(1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Fire Com-
panies", said new sections to be known as Sections 332-I-332L,
inclusive, and to follow immediately after Section 332H of said
Article as amended by Chapter 362 of 1951 relating to the levy
of a special fire tax in the fourth Election District of Anne Arundel
County, and providing for a referendum thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That four new sections be and they are hereby added to the Anne
Arundel County Code (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County", sub-
title "Fire Companies", said new sections to be known as Sections
332-I-332L, inclusive, and to follow immediately after Section 332H
of said Article, and all to read as follows:

332-I. (a) The provisions of this section shall apply to and be
effective in the fourth Election District of Anne Arundel County.

(b)   The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are here-
by authorized and directed to levy for the year 1957 and annually
thereafter a fire tax of four cents on every One Hundred Dollars
($100.00) of the assessed value of all real and personal property
located in the fourth Election District.

(c)   The said fire tax shall be levied and collected in the same man-
ner as other State and County taxes are now levied and collected.

(d)   The proceeds of said fire tax shall be paid equally by the
County Commissioners semi-annually on June SO and December 81
of each year to the fire companies approved in accordance with the
provisions of this sub-title.

332J. The funds received by the fire companies approved in accord-
ance with the provisions of this sub-title shall be used for the purpose
of purchasing, repairing, replacing, operating and maintaining their
fire fighting equipment and apparatus and the housing of the same,
provided, however, that no payment or disbursement of any of said
funds shall be made by any such fire companies or the Treasurers
thereof without the approval of their Board of Directors. The amount
and type of equipment of said fire companies shall conform to the
standards prescribed by the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Fire
Association and no resolution, regulation or by-laws shall be passed
by said fire companies limiting or restricting the territory within said
