86                                 LAWS OF MARYLAND                          [CH. 69

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That four new sections be and they are hereby added to the Anne
Arundel County Code (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County",
sub-title "Fire Companies", said new sections to be known as Sec-
tions 332-I-332L, inclusive, and to follow immediately after Section
332H of said Article, and all to read as follows:

SS2-L (a). The provisions of this section shall apply to and be
effective in the first precinct and the third precinct of the Fifth
Election District of Anne Arundel County.

(b). The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are
hereby authorized and directed to levy for the year 1956 and annually
thereafter a fire tax of five cents on every One Hundred Dollars
($100.00) of the assessed value of all real and personal property
located in the first precinct and the third precinct of the Fifth Elec-
tion District.

(c). The said fire tax shall be levied and collected in the same
manner as other State and County taxes are now levied and collected.

(d). The proceeds collected from each precinct by said fire tax
shall be paid by the County Commissioners semi-annually on June
30 and December 31 of each year to the Brooklyn Park Fire Com-
pany and the Glen Burnie Fire Company respectively in amounts
equal to the amount collected from each precinct.

332J. The funds received by Brooklyn Park Fire Company AND
THE GLEN BURNIE FIRE COMPANY shall be used for the
purpose of purchasing, repairing, replacing, operating and main-
taining their fire fighting equipment and apparatus and the hous-
ing of the same, provided, hoivever, that no payment or disburse-
ment of any of said funds shall be made by either fire company
or the Treasurer thereof without the approval of its Board of
Directors. The amount and type of equipment of said fire companies
shall conform to the standards prescribed by the Anne Arundel
County Volunteer Fire Association and no resolution, regulation or
by-law shall be passed by either fire company limiting or restricting
the territory within said precincts of said election district within
which it will respond to emergency or fire calls.

332K. In the event either fire company ceases to be an active fire
fighting organization, or if the funds provided for herein are not
used for the purposes set forth in Sections 332-1 - 332L of this sub-
title, or if restrictive rules or regulations are adopted by either
company with respect to the area within which it will respond to
emergency or fire calls, then, and in any of said events, the said
County Commissioners shall cease to levy the said fire tax.

332L. The Brooklyn Park Fire Company and Glen Burnie Fire
Company shall each give bond to the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County in a penal sum to be set by them conditioned upon
the faithful expenditure of the funds derived hereunder.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
