extending the provisions of the so-called Saturday closing law to
banking institutions in Caroline and Worcester Counties; and
WHEREAS, there may be some doubt as to the validity of the title
of said Chapter 97 of 1955, it being desirable therefore to re-enact
the provisions of said Act without change in order to correct any
possible defect in the title thereof; now therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 10 of Article 13 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Bills of Exchange and Promissory Notes", sub-
title "Legal Holidays", as said section was amended by Chapter 97 of
the Acts of 1955, be and it is hereby repealed, and that a new Section
10 be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof and to read as follows:
10. It shall be lawful for any banking institutions as defined in
Article 11 of the Annotated Code of Maryland to remain closed on
any one or more or all Saturdays, as it may by resolution of its board
of directions determine, from time to time. Any Saturday on which
any banking institution shall remain closed in accordance with the
provisions of this section shall, as to such banking institution, consti-
tute a legal holiday within the meaning of such term as used in and
for all purposes of Section 9 of this Article. Interest on any bill of
exchange, draft or promissory note presentable for payment on any
Saturday on which such banking institution shall remain closed in
accordance with the provisions of this section shall be computed down
to and including any such Saturday only, provided such bill of
exchange, draft or promissory note is presented on the next succeed-
ing secular day.
The provisions of this section shall not apply to Queen Anne's,
Somerset and Wicomico Counties.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title

aggregate compensation of deputy sheriffs in Talbot County.
