CHAPTER 54
(Senate Bill 176)

AN ACT to add Section 183A to Article 15 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent County",
said new section to follow immediately after Section 183 thereof
and to be under the new sub-title "Explosives", making it unlaw-
ful to construct, acquire, reconvert as or operate any factory or
assembly plant for the manufacture or composition of certain
explosives in designated areas in Kent County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 183A be and it is hereby added to Article 15 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent
County", said new section to follow immediately after Section 183
thereof and to be under the new sub-title "Explosives", and to read
as follows:

183A. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
to construct, acquire, reconvert as or operate any factory or assem-
bly plant for the manufacture or composition of any type of explo-
sive material or fireworks within a distance of one mile of any
town or village in Kent County. for the purposes of this section,
a town or village shall be defined as a settlement with six or more
separate family dwellings within a distance of 500 yards of each
other. Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of
this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con-
viction thereof shall be fined not more than $25.00 for each day
such violation occurs or continues.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

CHAPTER 55
(Senate Bill 178)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 7 of
Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1954 Supplement),
title "Juries", sub-title "Qualification and Selection of Jurors",
eliminating Kent County from the list of counties to which the
so-called Women's Jury Law does not apply.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 7 of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1954 Supplement), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualification and Selec-
tion of Jurors", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
