sub-title "Schools," said new section to follow immediately after
Section 501 thereof, relating to the transportation of children who
attend certain schools in Talbot County who do not receive State
aid.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 501A be and it is hereby added to Article 21 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Talbot
County," sub-title "Schools," said new section to follow immediately
after Section 501 thereof, and to read as follows:

501 A. All children, who are of public school age, who attend schools
in Talbot County which do not receive State aid and who reside on or
along or near to the public highways of Talbot County, on which there
is now or hereafter operated a public school bus or conveyance pro-
vided by the Board of Education of Talbot County for transporting
children to and from the public schools of Talbot County, shall receive,
subject to the approval of the County Commissioners, transportation
on such busses or conveyances; such transportation, upon the ap-
proval of the County Commissioners, shall be provided for them by
the Board of Education of Talbot County from a point on the said
public highway nearest or most accessible to their respective homes
to
AND FROM the public school being served by such bus or busses,

(IT BEING THE INTENTION THAT
THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL NOT AUTHORIZE
TRANSPORTATION FOR CHILDREN ATTENDING A PRIVATE
SCHOOL BETWEEN THE PUBLIC SCHOOL AND THE PRI-
VATE SCHOOL). This transportation, subject to the approval of the
County Commissioners, shall be provided by the Board of Education as
aforesaid, for all the children attending schools described herein, upon
the same terms and conditions as now are or as may hereafter be
established by the Board of Education of Talbot County for children
attending public schools; provided that the County Commissioners of
Talbot County make such provisions in their budget by appropriate
tax levy as will be necessary to defray the cost of such transportation,
which authority is hereby granted to said Commissioners so that, they
may, in their discretion, provide such transportation as is herein
authorized.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1,1955.
