Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett County", sub-title "Sunday
Observance", as said section was enacted by Chapter 722 of the Acts
of 1953, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
507C. Notwithstanding any provision of any Public General or
Public Local Law, it shall be lawful to show or exhibit motion pictures
in Garrett County on Sundays after the hour of [9] 8 o'clock P. M.,
and at no other time during such day, with or without a charge or
admission fee, provided, however, that such exhibitions shall be sub-
ject to all provisions of law relating to licensing and censorship ap-
plicable to motion picture exhibitions on week days. The work or
employment of any operator, ticket-seller or other employee or
attendant in connection with such exhibition shall not be unlawful
because performed on Sunday.
Any such exhibition on Sunday except as hereby authorized shall
be subject to the provisions and penalties of Sections 578 and 605
of Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety, and having been passed by a
yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 38 (s) of
Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Sheriffs," sub-title "Compensation and Duties," relating to
the salary of the Chief Deputy Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff of Som-
erset County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 38 (s) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Sheriffs," sub-title "Compensation and Duties,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

(s). The Sheriff of Somerset County shall receive an annual salary
of $3,600. He shall appoint a Chief Deputy who shall receive an an-
