shall thereafter conduct public hearings on the necessity or advisa-
bility of such proposed modification of rates, charges, levies, or
assessments.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1,1955.

ternal Beneficial Associations and to enact in lieu thereof new
Sections 251, 252 and 253, said new Sections to follow immediately
after Section 250,

FRATERNAL BENEFICIARY ASSOCIATIONS TO PROVIDE
FOR THE PAYMENT OF CERTAIN BENEFITS INCLUDING
NON - FORFEITURE BENEFITS, CASH SURRENDER
VALUES OR OTHER OPTIONS, AS THEIR LAWS MAY PER-
MIT, AND SETTING FORTH CERTAIN RULES AS TO BENE-
FICIARIES OF SUCH ASSOCIATIONS AND CERTAIN QUALI-
FICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP IN SUCH ASSOCIATIONS,
AND RELATING GENERALLY TO FRATERNAL BENE-
FICIARY INSURANCE IN THIS STATE.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 251, 252 and 253 of Article 48A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Insurance", sub-title "Fraternal
Beneficial Associations", be and the same are hereby repealed, and
that new Sections 251, 252 and 253 be and the same are hereby
enacted in lieu thereof, to follow immediately after Section 250 of
said Article, and to read as follows:
