occurring during the year 1956; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this resolution be sent to the Board of
County Commissioners and to the Board of Supervisors of Elections
of Caroline County.

(House Joint Resolution 17)
House Joint Resolution requesting the County Commissioners of
Prince George's County to appoint a Committee of citizens to study
and promote the industrial potentialities of said County, and pro-
viding for an appropriation for certain expenses.
WHEREAS, the great residential growth of Prince George's County
in recent years has not been balanced by a corresponding industrial
development; and
WHEREAS, in order to increase the basis for taxation, provide job
opportunities for citizens and stimulate commerce, new industries
must be encouraged to locate in Prince George's County; and
WHEREAS, Prince George's County is strategically located in a
marketing area of several million people, with two major railroads
and many important highways traversing the County, but these
and many other unusual features which should attract industries
to the County have not been sufficiently brought to the attention of
the many industries throughout the nation which are planning for
expansion and relocation; now, therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the County
Commissioners of Prince George's County be and they are hereby
requested to appoint, before July 1,1955, a Committee of eleven mem-
bers to serve for a period of two years, without compensation, to be
called the Prince George's County Industrial Development Com-
mittee, and the said County Commissioners shall designate a tem-
porary chairman; and be it further
Resolved that in selecting the members of said Committee the
County Commissioners shall, insofar as is possible, appoint repre-
sentatives of the interests particularly concerned with transportation,
public utilities, manufacturing, business, agriculture, labor, real
estate, construction, banking, finance and a member of the General
Assembly so as to insure the maximum degree of coordination of all
efforts to accomplish the purposes of this resolution; and be it further
Resolved that said Committee shall upon call of the temporary
chairman meet promptly after its appointment for the purpose of
