1228                             LAWS OF MARYLAND                        [CH. 718

Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Fire
Companies", as said sections were amended by Chapter 98 of the
Acts of 1950 and Chapter 240 of the Acts of 1951, be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

326.   The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are
hereby authorized and empowered to levy a special tax in each Elec-
tion District of Anne Arundel County to raise an amount of money
not exceeding [forty-four Thousand Dollars ($44,000.00)] One
Hundred four Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00)
for the year [1950]
1956 and every year thereafter including such additional amounts
as may be necessary for the purchase, maintenance, operation and
replacement reserves of fire fighting equipment, truck quarters and
[chauffeurs'] enginemen's dormitories, of Volunteer Fire Companies
of Anne Arundel County, including the City of Annapolis, and such
other Volunteer Fire Companies as may be created hereafter, by and
with the consent of said County Commissioners and the Mayor and
Aldermen of the City of Annapolis for the Sixth District of Anne
Arundel County. The amount to be distributed to the Fire Company
or companies of each Election District shall be levied only in the
Election District wherein the said Fire Company or companies are
located, except that the amount levied in the Eighth Election District
may be distributed to the Deale Volunteer Fire Department, In-
corporated. PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT AS TO THE SIXTH
ELECTION DISTRICT OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, THE
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL CONTINUE TO
APPROPRIATE THE SUM OF TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS
($2,000.00) ANNUALLY TO EACH OF THE FIVE FIRE COM-
PANIES THEREIN AND SHALL LEVY A TAX IN THE SIXTH
ELECTION DISTRICT ACCORDINGLY; AND IF THE MAYOR
AND ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS, BY ORDI-
NANCE, REQUEST THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS APPROPRIATE AN ADDITIONAL SUM, NOT TO EX-
CEED TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000.00) ANNUALLY, TO
EACH OF THE SAID FIRE COMPANIES AND TO LEVY A TAX
IN THE SIXTH ELECTION DISTRICT TO DEFRAY THE COST
OF SAID ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION, THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS THEN SHALL MAKE THE ADDI-
TIONAL APPROPRIATION IN THE AMOUNT REQUESTED
AND SHALL LEVY THE NECESSARY TAX IN PAYMENT
THEREOF.

327.   The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are
hereby authorized and empowered to pay the sum of [forty-four
Thousand Dollars ($44,000.00)] One Hundred Four Thousand
Dollars ($104,000.00)
to the several Volunteer Fire Companies for
the purchase, maintenance, operation and replacement reserve for
fire fighting equipment, truck quarters and [chauffeurs'] enginemen's
dormitories, provided, however, that the tax levied in the City of
Annapolis shall be paid to the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of
Annapolis, who shall pay the same to the several volunteer fire com-
panies of the City of Annapolis, for the purchase, maintenance and
replacement reserve for fire fighting equipment only; no money shall
be spent for parade or dress uniforms or for any other purpose than
provided in this sub-title. No such payment shall be made unless
the fire fighting apparatus is properly equipped with the necessary
