Sec 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect

CHAPTER 10
(House Bill 8)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 9 of
Article 78A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Public Works", changing an obsolete reference therein to
the biennial sessions of the General Assembly in order that it may
be to the annual sessions of the General Assembly.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 9 of Article 78A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Public Works", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
9. The Board of Public Works is hereby authorized and empow-
ered to borrow upon the credit of the State, at any time between the
[biennial] regular annual sessions of the General Assembly in sum
or sums not to exceed $50,000 in the aggregate to meet temporary
deficits in the treasury; and in addition thereto the said Board of
Public Works is hereby authorized and empowered to borrow upon
the credit of the State in sum or sums not to exceed $1,000,000 in
the aggregate, in anticipation of taxes levied for any year. All
loans made in pursuance of this section shall bear interest at a
rate to be determined by the Board of Public Works, and shall mature
and be repaid on or before the end of the [biennium] year following
that in which said sums are borrowed.
Sec 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1958.

(House Bill 18)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 108 (32)
and 115 (2) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title "Teachers' Re-
tirement System", amending the laws concerning the definition , of
the term "regular interest" and also the provisions concerning the
allowance of interest for the purposes of the Teachers' Retirement
System of the State of Maryland.
