3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said com-
missioners, or a majority of them, shall value and as-
certain the damages that may be sustained by each and
every of the persons through whose lands the said road
may pass, by opening the same, taking into estima-
tion the advantages and disadvantages, if any; and the
damages so ascertained, shall be levied and assessed
as other county charges are, and shall be paid over to
the persons respectively through whose lands the said

ney shall be levied or assessed for the purpose of dis-
charging the damages that may be done to any person
or persons petitioning this General Assembly for said
road.

4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said com-
missioners shall be entitled to receive a compensation
for their attendance and services, in discharge of their
duties of this act, not exceeding two dollars per day,
to be ascertained by the levy court; which is hereby
directed to be levied, collected and paid, as other
county charges are levied, collected and paid.

An act authorising Levin Dirickson, late sheriff and
collector of Worcester county, to complete his col-
lection.

Passed Dec.
14, 1812.

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General
Assembly, that Levin Dirickson, late sheriff and col-
lector of Worcester county, from various causes, has
not been able to complete his collection within the lim-
ited time, and that there are still due to him as sheriff
and collector of said county considerable sums of mo-
ney, and praying that a law may pass to enable "him
to collect the same: Therefore,

Preamble.

SEC. I. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the said Levin Dirickson be, and
he is hereby authorised to collect, until the first day of
January eighteen hundred and fourteen, all balances
due him as sheriff and collector of Worcester county,
for the year eighteen hundred and twelve, in the same
manner as he could or might have done within the
time limited by law, any law to the contrary notwith-
standing.

2 AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said Levin
Dirickson, before he derives any benefit from or un-
der this act, shall lodge his collection books, or a co-
py thereof, in the clerk's office of Worcester county.
