John Scott, Jacob Lantz, John Folk, Peter Louder-
milk and William Lemar, Senr. or a majority of them
be, and they are hereby authorised to propose a scheme
or schemes of a lottery for raising a sum of money
not exceeding two thousand dollars, and to sell and

dispose of the tickets thereof Provided, That the
said George Thistle, Samuel Smith, John Scott, Jacob
Lantz, John Folk, Peter Loudermilk and William
Lemar, Senr. or a majority of them, before they pro-
ceed to the sale of any ticket or tickets in said lot-
tery, shall give bond to the State of Maryland, in the
penalty of four thousand dollars, conditioned that
they will well and truly apply the monies arising
therefrom, within twelve months after the drawing
thereof, to the payment of the prizes drawn therein,
to the adventurers to whom they shall be due; and
after deducting the necessary expenses incurred in
the management thereof, shall apply the residue
within twelve months, to the purchase of a Fire En-
gine, in the said town.

Proviso.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said bond
shall be lodged in the clerk's office in Allegany coun-
ty, to be there recorded, and upon such bond, or any
office copy thereof, suit or suits may be instituted
for any breach or non-compliance with the condition
thereof.

CHAPTER 183.

An act authorising Robert Welch, (of Ben. ) former
collector of Anne-Arundel county, to complete his
collection.

1, 1813.

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General
Assembly, by the petition of Robert Welch, (of Ben. )
former collector of Anne Arundel county, that from
various circumstances he has not been able to com-
plete his collection within the time limited: Therefore,

Preamble.

SEC. 1. BE IT-ENACTED by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the said Robert Welch,
(of Ben. ) be, and he is hereby authorised to collect
until the first day of December eighteen hundred
and thirteen, all balances due him as collector of
Anne-Arundel county, in the same manner as h6
could or might have done within the time limited by
law, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

Collection ex-
tended to Dec.
1, 1813.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be
the duty of the said Robert Welch, (of Ben. ) before
he proceeds to execute or distrain the property of
any person or persons for public dues in virtue of
