CHAPTER 24
An act authorising John Creswell, late sheriff and
collector of Cecil county,, to complete his collec-
tion.
|

SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the said John Creswell,
be and he is hereby authorised to collect until the first
day of January, eighteen hundred and fourteen, all
balances due him as sheriff and collector of Cecil
county, in the same manner as he could or might have
done within the time limited by law, any law to the
contrary notwithstanding.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be
the duty of the said John Creswell, before he pro-
ceeds to execute or distrain the property of any per-
son or persons for taxes, officers' fees, or public dues,
in virtue of this act, to deliver to, or leave at the last
place of abode of such person or persons, his, her or
their executors or administrators, chargeable with
the same, at least thirty days previous to the levying
such execution or distress, an account written in words
at full length, of the taxes, officers' fees or public
dues, demanded of him, her or them, with an affida-
vit annexed thereto, that he hath not received any
part thereof nor any thing as security or satisfaction
for the same, more than credit given, to the best of
his knowledge.

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said John
Creswell, before he derives any benefit from or under
this act shall lodge a copy of his collection books in
the clerk's office of Cecil county, to be opened for the
inspection of all persons interested in the same, and
give public notice thereof by advertisement, to be
set up at the court house door, and other public places
in said county

CHAPTER 25.
An act for the benefit of Thomas Colston, of Dor-
chester county.

WHEREAS, It appears to this General Assem-
bly, that on the nineteenth of January, eighteen hun-
dred and seven, a writ of fieri facias did issue out of
Dorchester county court, against Abraham Vanhorn,
William Lake and Thomas I Pattison, at the suit of
George Hoffman, returnable on the third Monday in
March, then next following; that on the said third
Monday in March, Thomas Ennalls, the then sheriff,
