made return that by virtue of the said fieri facias, he
had taken in execution certain lands and tenements,
the property of the said Vanhorn, Lake and Pattison?
but that the same remained on hand for want of buy-
ers; that Thomas Colston did on the fifteenth of De-
cember, eighteen hundred and nine, purchase at the
sale of the said sheriff, the said lands and tenements,
for the sum of, nine hundred and fifty dollars, and
paid the purchase money therefor, of which sale the
said sheriff neglected to make any return to Dorches-
ter county court, at the March term following; That
the said Thomas Colston, at the October term, eigh-
teen hundred and eleven, applied to the county court
aforesaid, to make a rule on the said sheriff to com-
plete his return to the said fieri facias; that the said
court did thereupon rule that the said sheriff complete
his return thereof by the second day of March term,
then next; and that the said sheriff at the March
term last aforesaid, completed the said return: And
whereas, Great doubts exist as to the legality of the;
said proceedings of Dorchester county, court, where-
by the title of the said Thomas Colston to the said
lands and tenements so as aforesaid, fairly purchased
and paid for, may be defective; for remedy whereof,

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the aforesaid proceedings of Dor-
chester county court be, and they are hereby con-
firmed and made valid.

CHAPTER 26. ^

An act for the relief of Polly Holland, of the city
of Annapolis;

A sum to be
levied for her
maintenance
— to whom to
be paid.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the levy court of Anne-Arundel
county be, and they are hereby directed and empow-
ered at their levy court annually, to assess and levy
on the assessable property of said county, a sum of-
money not exceeding thirty dollars, for the support
and maintenance of the said Polly Holland and her
five children, and that the same be collected annually
by the collector or collectors of Anne Arundel coun-
ty, and paid to the said Polly Holland or to her order.
