LAWS OF MARYLAND, Nov. SESS. 1812.

and fifteen, in as full and ample manner as he could
have done during the time limited by law to collect
all balances due him as sheriff and collector of Bal-
timore county, for the years eighteen hundred & nine,
eighteen hundred and ten and eighteen hundred and
eleven, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

Certain sums
due him to be
levied on the
county.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the levy
court of Baltimore county be, and they are hereby
authorised and directed at their next usual session
for levying taxes on the said county, or as soon there-
after as may be, to levy for the use of the said Wil-
liam Merryman, such sum of money as may appear
to be doe to said Merryman, in consequence of pay-
ments made by him on the property of insolvents,
which it appears by certificates from the clerks of the
commissioners of the tax for the city of Baltimore,
and Baltimore county, would have been allowed him
for the years eighteen hundred and nine, eighteen
hundred and ten, and eighteen. hundred and eleven, if
the returns had been made in time.

ceeds to exe-
cute or dis-
train any pro-
perty.

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the
duty of the said William Merryman, before he pro-
ceeds to execute and distrain the property of any
person or persons for taxes or public dues in virtue
of this act, to deliver to such person or persons
chargeable with the same, at least ten day's previous
to the levying such execution or distress, an account
of the taxes demanded of him her or them; and that
the said William Merryman shall cause to be made
out, a list of the balances due for taxes or public dues
from each person in every hundred of the county
aforesaid, and in the said city of Baltimore, with the
affidavit annexed, of they deputy collector of each
hundred, and of the said city, that the said balances
are still due and unpaid,, and that they have not re-
ceived any part or parcel thereof, or any security or
satisfaction for the same to the best of their know-
ledge; which lists of balances shall be lodged in the
office of the clerk of Baltimore county court and
be opened for the inspection of all persons interested
in the same.
