SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the capital stock of the said bank

be and the same is hereby reduced to the sum of two
hundred and fifty-one thousand seven hundred dollars,
and the par value of each share from the sum of fifty
dollars to the sum of thirty dollars, and that the differ-
ence of twenty dollars on each share of stock be paid in
money to the owner thereof.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the sum of twenty
cents in the hundred dollars, required by the fifth sec-
tion of article twenty of the act of eighteen hundred and
fifty-three, chapter four hundred and forty-one, to be
paid to the treasurer of the State of Maryland, in aug-
mentation of the free school fund of this State, shall,
after the passage and acceptance of this act, be paid on
the said sum of two hundred and fifty-one thousand
seven hundred dollars.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall have
no effect until the president and directors of the said
bank shall have assented to the same, and filed their
assent in writing with the treasurer of this State.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this law shall, if as-
sented to as aforesaid, go into operation on the first
Monday of April next.

CHAPTER 79.

AN ACT to confirm to Jesse Paten Todd and Lucy
Ellen Todd, their respective names.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Jesse Paten Todd and Lucy Ellen

Todd, represented to be children of Benjamin Todd,
all of Frederick county, he and they are hereby autho-
rised to take, retain, use and transmit the respective
names of Jesse Paten Todd and Lucy Ellen Todd, as
firmly and legally as if they had regularly received the
same from their father and been baptised into and by
those names, and that their past acts under those names
shall be as valid as they could be under any other
names.
