such by-laws may be altered, changed or repeated in
whole or in part.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That in suits by or
against said corporation no member of the association
shall because of such membership, if he be not a parly
to such suit or suits in his individual character, be in-
competent as a witness.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That any member may
withdraw from the corporation on giving notice to the
Recording Secretary and paying all monies due from
him to the association.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act of incor-
poration shall be in force and go into operation from and
after the day of its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the Trustees of the Lutherville
Female Seminary of Baltimore county.

Feb. 24, 1854.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John G. Morris, George Slothower,
Samuel Bilson, Isaac Stratzman, Edward Meyers, Peter
Zell, Jacob Horn, James G. Hamner, Henry Drakely,
Samuel Hinks, Jacob Trust, John Sadtler, George Har-
man, M. M. Yeakle, Peter Sawerwine, G. F. R.
Waesche, George Hartzog, E. M. Punderson, W. M.
Kemp, C. D. Hinks, William Bridges, B. F. New-
comer, John Clark, Wm. A. Wisong, James Mathews,
E. W. Lentz, Samuel Appold, Charles A. Morris, and
their successors, be and they are hereby created a cor-
poration by the name of the Trustees of the Luther-
ville Female Seminary of Baltimore county, and by
that name may sue and be sued, answer and defend, in
any court of law or equity, and may ordain and estab-
lish such by-laws, rules and regulations as shall appear
necessary or proper for conducting the concerns of said
corporation, and shall not be contrary to law, and the
same may change, alter and amend as shall appear pro-
per, and may adopt, use, and at pleasure change, a com-
mon seal.

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the object and de-
sign of this corporation shall be- the establishment and
