LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Authority to
levy.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the county com-
missioners are hereby authorised and required to levy
upon the assessable property of the county, such a sum
of money as may be necessary to pay all the expenses,
damages, costs and charges, that shall properly accrue
in the execution of this act.

In force.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 41.

Passed

Feb. 24, 1854.

AN ACT to make valid a bill of sale from a certain
James Davis, administrator of Tilghman Davis, of Car-
oline county, deceased, to a certain John L. Willis, of
Dorchester county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly,
that on the twenty-fourth day of August, eighteen
hundred and forty-nine, a bill of sale was executed
by a certain James Davis, administrator of Tilghman
Davis, of Caroline county, deceased, to a certain
John L. Willis, of Dorchester county, for certain ne-
gro slaves therein named; and whereas, it was omit-
ted to record the said bill of sale within the time spe-
cified by law; therefore,

Effectual.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the passage of this
act the said hill of sale above described shall be as good
and effectual for all purposes as if the same had been
recorded within the time specified and limited by low

Proviso.

for the recording of bills of sale; Provided, nothing in
this act shall affect the rights of bona fide purchasers,
without notice, who have become so before the passage
of this act.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.
