SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the day of its passage.

AN ACT to make additional provision for the instruc-
tion of Indigent Blind persons, inhabitants of this
State.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the sum annually appropriated for
the instruction of indigent blind persons in and by the
first section of the act of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, passed at December session eighteen hundred and
forty-nine, chapter two hundred and nine, entitled an
act to provide for the instruction of indigent blind per-
sona, inhabitants of this State, be and the same is here-
by increased to not exceeding four thousand dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Governor of
Maryland whenever he shall be satisfied that the Mary-
land Institution for the instruction of the blind is pre-
pared to educate blind persona, be, and he is hereby
authorised to place or have placed in the said institu-
tion for education such indigent blind persons as shall
thereafter be educated at the expense of the State or
such and so many of them as he may deem expedi-
ent.

SEC. 3. And, be it enacted, That whenever the
Governor of this State shall certify to the Comptroller of
the Treasury, that he is satisfied that the sum of five
thousand dollars has been paid from private contribu-
tions to the said institution, the Treasurer of this Slate,
shall upon the warrant of the Comptroller pay to the
Treasurer of the said institution, the sum of five thou-
sand dollars; and the sum of five thousand dollars is
hereby appropriated for that purpose out of any unap-
propriated money in the treasury.
