to those already prescribed by law, to weigh upon any
day in the week, excepting Sunday, all live stock that
may be offered at the live stock scales for that purpose,
and for every weight of such live stock ascertained and
determined by the live stock scales under the care and
direction of said weighmaster, he shall for the first time

of weighing any such live stock, excepting sheep, charge
and collect for the use of the State two cents for every
hundred weight so weighed, and one cent per head for
every sheep so weighed; and he shall also for every

second and subsequent weighing, charge and receive
for the use of the State, for cattle and hogs two cents
for every thousand weight, and all sheep one cent for
every thousand weight, and all live stock not required
by law to be weighed, offered at said scales for weigh-
ing, not designed for slaughter within the city of
Baltimore nor within five miles from the same, shall be
weighed by said weighmaster, who shall charge and
collect therefor for the use of the State for every thou-
sand weight so weighed, the sum of six cents; said
weighmaster shall also to the best of his judgment and
discretion, make such allowance in the nature of tare,

on account of any dirt, mud, filth or other matter ad-
hering to any such live slock so weighed by him; he
shall also number the pens or yards under his care,
used for receiving such live slock, and shall have marked
in conspicuous places on the fences or gates thereof, in
legible figures, the numbers of cattle, nogs or sheep,
that said pens or yards will respectively contain; said
weighmaster shall also, when receiving any such live
stock for weighing or exposure for sale, put the same
into the pens or yards the nearest in capacity to contain
the respective droves of the different owners thereof,

and in no case shall said weighmaster divide and put
portions of the same drove into different pens or yards,
unless such division and distribution of such droves be
actually necessary for the accommodation of the same,
or to effect a division of such droves among the various
owners thereof; and said weighmaster shall also keep a
full record of all weights ascertained and determined by
him, by said livestock scales, of what, and for whom
the same may be so ascertained and determined, also of
all monies by him received as said weighmaster, and
of all expenditures and disbursements in books to be
provided by him for that purpose, which said books
shall belong to the State, and at all times be subject to
the inspection and order of the comptroller; said weigh-
master shall also within the first five days of each and
every month, upon his oath or affirmation taken before
