dred ninety-two, entitled an act for the relief of Wil-

Passed

|
WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly,
on application of William Bryan, late sheriff of
Anne Arundel county, that by a law passed at the
last session, of which this is amendatory, the com-
missioners of said county were authorised and direct-
ed to inquire into and examine his claim to be reim-
bursed, the amount of a judgment rendered in the
circuit court of said county, against him on account
of the escape of a certain negro slave as therein
stated, and to levy upon the assessable property of
said county for his use the amount of the said
judgment exclusive of interest and costs, if satisfied
that the said negro slave escaped from the jail of said
county, by reason of the weakness and insecurity
thereof; And whereas, it is right and proper that he
should also be allowed as well the legal costs incur-
red by him in defending the suit in which said judg-
ment was rendered, as also interest on the said judg-
ment, if the said commissioners shall be satisfied that
he was entitled to be reimbursed the amount of the
principal of said judgment; Therefore,
