thirty-nine cents, being the amount overpaid by him
into the Treasury.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 199.

In force.

AN ACT to incorporate the Roman Catholic Asylum
for Widows, in the city of Baltimore.

Mar. 10, 1854.

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Francis Patrick Ken-
rick, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Baltimore ;
the Very Reverend Henry B. Coskery, rector of the
Cathedral Church of Baltimore, James W. Jenkins,
Charles Oliver O'Donnell, Doctor Richard McSherry,
and Michael Courtenay Jenkins, by their petition to
this General Assembly, have shown that Margaret
Burke, widow, late of the said city, deceased, by her
last will and testament in writing, duly proven and
recorded, dedicated and devised her house and lot,
number one hundred and twenty-three, Mulberry
street, in the said city, as an asylum for Roman Ca-
tholic widows, under the direction of the reverend
directors of the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Balti-
more, and that the said petitioners have associated
together for the purpose of carrying out the benevo-
lent intentions of the said testatrix, and for that pur-
pose have prayed to he incorporated; and it appearing
to this General Assembly that the said object is laud-
able, and can be attained by special act and not under
any general law; Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the said Francis Patrick Kenrick,
Henry B. Coskery, James W. Jenkins, Charles Oliver
O'Donnell, Doctor Richard McSherry and Michael
Courtenay Jenkins, their associates and successors, be,
and they are hereby created and made a body corpo-
