LAWS OF MARYLAND.

rate by the name and style of the Trustees of the Ro-
man Catholic Asylum for Widows, in the city of Bal-
timore, and by that name shall have perpetual succes-
sion, and may sue and be sued, and have, take and
hold, by purchase, gift and devise, any estate and pro-
perty, not exceeding in the whole the sum of fifty thou-
sand dollars, and the same or any part thereof may at
any time sell, devise and convey, and may have and
use a corporate seal, and may provide by by-laws, or
otherwise, for the election of other trustees to succeed
themselves, and also for the government of the said
asylum.

Vested in cor-
poration.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said house
and lot so dedicated and devised, as aforesaid, shall be,
and the same is hereby vested in the corporation hereby
created.

Reservation.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the General As-
sembly reserves to itself the right at any time to modify,
amend, or repeal this act.

Banking for-
bid.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That nothing herein
contained shall be construed to authorise the said -cor-
poration to make or issue any note, token, scrip or de-
vice to be used as a currency.

AN ACT to regulate inspections in the city of Balti-
more.

Citizen enti-
tled to re-
ceive license.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the first day of May
next, on which day this act shall go into effect, any
free white citizen of the State of Maryland, on applica-
tion to the clerk of the court of common pleas, in the
city of Baltimore, and paying to the said clerk, as the
case may be, the sum hereinafter named, shall be en-
titled to receive a license to act as inspector of the arti-
