CHAPTER 12.

AN ACT to change the name of Thomas Gary Hodges,
to Thomas Hodges Gary.

Feb. 10, 1854.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the name of Thomas Gary Hodges
of Anne Arundel county, in the State of Maryland,
be, and the same is hereby changed to Thomas Hodges
Gary, and it shall be lawful for the said Thomas Gary
Hodges, at all times hereafter to be called and known
by and hold and use the name of Thomas Hodges
Gary, and by that name to hold, receive, purchase, sell,
convey or devise property and to sue or be sued in any
court of law or equity or elsewhere.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 18.

In force.

AN ACT to authorise the vestry of Emanuel Parish,
Allegany county, to take and hold certain rent and
personal property therein mentioned.

Feb. 10, 1854.

WHEREAS, the members of the Protestant Episcopal
Church in Allegany county, in the year eighteen
hundred and three, organised as a congregation by
the name of Emanuel Parish, under an act of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at November
session eighteen hundred and two, chapter one hun-
dred and eleven; and whereas, in the year eigh-
teen hundred and fifty-three, the members of the
same congregation for the purpose of conforming
their organization to the usages of the Protestant
Episcopal Church in Maryland, and of carrying out
the original intention of the founders of the congre-
gation, have under the act of seventeen hundred
and ninety-eight, chapter twenty-four, had Allegany
county set off as Emanuel Parish, and thereupon
on the nineteenth day of December last, a vestry of
Emanuel Parish, was duly elected and qualified;
